Renowned boxer Vijender Singh, known for his international exploits, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Welcoming him into the party fold, BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde expressed confidence that Singh’s inclusion will bolster the party’s resolve towards building a developed India. Tawde added that Singh’s entry will further strengthen the party and propel it towards its goals.
Speaking on his decision, Vijender Singh remarked, “On one hand, I am returning to my roots, which feels quite gratifying. Athletes, both nationally and internationally, have witnessed a surge in respect and recognition. Since the BJP came into power, athletes have found their journey smoother.” Asserting his commitment to truthfulness, Singh stated, “I am still the same Vijender Singh. I will call out wrong when I see it and uphold what is right.”
Vijender Singh had ventured into politics just before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, contesting from South Delhi on a Congress ticket. However, he faced defeat against BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri.
