In the special session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha on the Chandigarh issue between Punjab and Haryana, Sankalp Patra has been passed unanimously. In this resolution, a direct target has been made on Punjab. After three hours of discussion on the resolution, Chief Minister Manohar Lal replied to the debate and after that the resolution was passed.
Jagbir Singh Malik told that this issue had arisen since 1955. In the Shah Commission formed on 23 April 1966, it was said that Kharad tehsil would become a part of Haryana. After this fact came on 31st May, on 9th June, the Cabinet Government of the Center decided that Punjabi speaking area of Kharar tehsil should be given to Punjab and Hindi speaking area to Haryana. Chandigarh was made a Union Territory. This issue would not have arisen had Chandigarh not become a Union Territory.
In the special session of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, the resolution resolution was passed unanimously in support of the issues related to the interests of Haryana, including the construction of SYL, giving Hindi-speaking area to Haryana, and opposing the resolution passed by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha regarding the capital Chandigarh. After this the proceedings of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha were adjourned sine die.
