The Punjab Assembly on Friday passed a resolution demanding the immediate transfer of Chandigarh to the state. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also accused the central government of trying to disturb the balance between the administration of the union territory as well as the common assets.
Commenting on the Punjab CM’s move, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said that the city will remain the joint capital of both states. Let us inform you that Chandigarh is presently the joint capital of Haryana and Punjab.
The Haryana CM said the Punjab government was misleading the public on the issue, claiming that the move would benefit the employees “a lot”. He said that earlier the employees of Chandigarh had to depend on the Punjab Government for every single order of the Central Government.
