Ranjit Chautala: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini recently addressed the media regarding the status of Ranjit Chautala in the state cabinet. This discussion took place after Saini attended a state-level event at the National Dairy Research Institute in Karnal, where he was the chief guest for the 17th instalment transfer under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
CM Saini Clarifies: Ranjit Chautala to Remain in Cabinet Despite Election Defeat
To provide some context, Chautala, who was elected as an independent MLA from the Rania constituency, had resigned from his legislative position during the Lok Sabha elections to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Shortly after joining the BJP, Chautala was declared the candidate for the Hisar Lok Sabha seat but was defeated by Congress candidate Jayaprakash alias JP.
Following Chautala’s defeat, speculations were rife about his future in the Saini government cabinet since he no longer holds a legislative position. Addressing these speculations, Chief Minister Saini clarified that Chautala can remain a minister for up to six months without being an MLA. Saini stated, “Ranjit Chautala has a six-month window.
Anyone can hold a ministerial position for this period without contesting an election. There have been many such instances in the history of national and state politics. Therefore, it’s not appropriate to give weight to such rumours. Ranjit Chautala ji is respected and his guidance will continue to benefit the party.”
