In a cinematic landscape often dominated by serious dramas and intense thrillers, “Crew” emerges as a refreshing breeze. Directed by Rajesh Krishnan, known for his hit “Lootcase,” this lighthearted heist comedy introduces us to Geeta (Tabu), Jasmine (Kareena Kapoor Khan), and Divya (Kriti Sanon), crew members of Kohinoor Airlines facing bankruptcy.
The narrative cleverly unfolds with a flashback, revealing the events leading to the trio’s trouble with customs officials over missing gold bars. Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri’s script provides an easy-breezy story, balancing humour with themes of aspiration and audacity.
The first half is a joyous ride, as we witness the trials of our leading ladies, empathizing with their struggles against Kohinoor Chairman Vijay Walia’s indifference. The tone shifts slightly in the second half but maintains its humorous charm.
Tabu, Kriti Sanon, and Kareena Kapoor Khan deliver stellar performances, each bringing a unique flavor to their characters. Special appearances by Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma add to the charm.
Director Rajesh Krishnan showcases a firm grip on the narrative, infusing the film with laughter even in absurd moments. The music, particularly “Ghagra,” enhances pivotal moments.
