The Haryana government has increased the income limit for old age pension under the Vridhavastha Samman Bhatta scheme. The state government has issued a notification in this regard, stating that the annual income limit to avail of the pension has been raised from Rs. 2 lakhs to Rs. 3 lakhs.
The Vridhavastha Samman Bhatta scheme provides financial assistance to senior citizens who are unable to support themselves. Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive a monthly pension of Rs. 2,000. The scheme is aimed at improving the quality of life for the elderly and ensuring their social security.
With the increase in the income limit, more senior citizens will be able to avail the benefits of the scheme. The decision has been welcomed by various organizations working for the welfare of the elderly.
The Haryana government has also announced that it will set up old age homes in each district of the state to provide care and support to senior citizens who are unable to live independently. This move is expected to provide a safe and comfortable living environment for the elderly and improve their quality of life.
The state government has taken several measures in recent years to support senior citizens. In addition to the Vridhavastha Samman Bhatta scheme, the government has also launched the Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana, which provides financial assistance for the marriage of daughters of economically weaker sections of society.
The Haryana government’s initiatives toward the welfare of senior citizens and underprivileged sections of society are commendable and are expected to have a positive impact on the overall well-being of the state’s population.
