Haryana’s New Vehicle Scrappage and Recycling Policy 2024

Haryana’s Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Dushyant Chautala, announced the upcoming introduction of the Haryana Registered Vehicle Scrappage & Recycling Facility Incentive Policy 2024. The policy aims to transition towards a circular economy model by reclaiming value from End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) through efficient recycling methods. It targets pollution reduction, fuel bill savings, and youth employment generation.

Aligning with the central government’s Motor Vehicles (Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Rules, 2021, the policy seeks to phase out old vehicles systematically for environmental and road safety reasons. It emphasizes the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and alternative energy sources like solar power to reduce the carbon footprint and fossil fuel dependency.

Establishing designated Eco-Parks/Recycling Parks will promote the growth of the recycling industry. Incentives will be provided for purchasing new vehicles from state OEM dealers and registering them in Haryana. Stringent fitness criteria, aligned with Central Motor Vehicle Rules, will regulate vehicle longevity and safety.

The meeting, attended by senior officials including Additional Chief Secretary of Industries & Commerce Department, Shri Anand Mohan Sharan, underscored the government’s commitment to sustainable industrial growth.

As Haryana prepares to implement the Registered Vehicle Scrappage & Recycling Facility Incentive Policy 2024, it marks a significant step towards a greener, more prosperous future for the state and its residents.
