Polling in Haryana’s 18 municipal councils and 28 municipalities concluded on Sunday.

The total turnout was 70.4% till 7 pm. Out of a total of 18 lakh 39 thousand 455 voters, more than 12 lakh 95 thousand exercised their franchise in these 46 bodies of the state. There may be an increase in the final figures for voting.

Rewari recorded the highest voter turnout of 84.6%. The lowest 61.7% polling was recorded in Jhajjar. Here out of 1 lakh 68 thousand 894 only 1 lakh 4 thousand 187 voters cast their votes. A woman ASI, who was going on election duty from Kaithal to Narayangarh in Ambala, died on the day of polling. Clashes broke out between two independent candidates in Fatehabad.


A total of 4712 EVMs have been distributed for city council and municipal elections. Police have been instructed to put up additional patrolling and nakas in the election areas. He said that complete arrangements for drinking water and toilets have been made at the polling booths. In this regard, instructions have already been given to the District Deputy Commissioners.
