Rewari: In the fast-paced era of digitization, the central government is rolling out a plan to offer free WiFi to government buildings in villages. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has partnered with the government to kickstart the initiative in Rewari district.
As part of the scheme, WiFi installation has commenced in 412 villages, with 10 connections per gram panchayat. Speeds vary, with the first connection at 100 Mbps, the second at 50 Mbps, and the remaining eight at 25 Mbps. Currently, 150 WiFi connections are operational in 348 gram panchayats, and the rollout continues.
Key locations include Gram Panchayat Buildings, Gram Sachivalayas, Government schools, Anganwadi centers, Health facilities, and Community Centers. BSNL Rewari AGM, Deepak Gupta, expects all villages to have connections within the next six months, providing free service for the initial two years.
