Mohali is gearing up to host the prestigious Saras Mela for the first time, adding another accolade to its cultural repertoire. Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain expressed excitement, noting the district’s rare opportunity to host this widely acclaimed event.
Scheduled at Sector 88 from February 16 to 25, the fair will attract artists, artisans, traders, and skilled individuals from various states. Expecting a daily influx of thousands of visitors, the event promises a vibrant mix of shopping and entertainment.
To ensure smooth execution, committees comprising higher district officials have been formed. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sonam Chaudhary, also the mela nodal officer, shared details of the extensive preparations, including 300 to 350 stalls showcasing diverse products.
Assistant nodal officers Harveer Kaur, PCS (UT), and Amarinder Pal Singh Chauhan will support meticulous planning. A recent meeting addressed site details, stall placements, stage setups, and facilities for parking, swings, toilets, water, and electricity, ensuring a seamless 10-day Saras Mela.
As Mohali eagerly awaits the event, it anticipates not only hosting a successful fair but also fostering cultural exchange and celebrating India’s diverse tapestry.
