May 29, 2022, remains etched in the memory of all the admirers of the late legendary singer Sidhu Moose Wala, as he was tragically shot dead in his village Mansa. After a year-long pursuit, there is finally a breakthrough in the case, as the key accused, Sachin Bishnoi, has been extradited to India from Azerbaijan. Sachin Bishnoi, the nephew of Lawrence Bishnoi, who had claimed responsibility for executing the murder, had evaded authorities and fled India shortly before the incident.
Immediately after the murder, Sachin Bishnoi had boldly proclaimed his role in the assassination through a Facebook post, citing revenge as the motive. Since then, Indian authorities had been tirelessly trying to locate and apprehend him. In August 2022, they succeeded in tracking him down in Azerbaijan and sought his extradition. With the Union Home Ministry’s consent, a special cell team was dispatched to Azerbaijan to facilitate Sachin Bishnoi’s return to India.
The case, which has been under intense scrutiny, has seen multiple hearings in court. However, with Sachin Bishnoi back on Indian soil, the next significant hearing is scheduled for August 9, 2023. During this session, all the accused will be physically present before the court to enable further decisions and actions to be taken. As the trial continues, the nation waits for justice to be served for the untimely demise of a beloved musical icon, Sidhu Moose Wala.
