Stage App is a regional OTT (over-the-top) service that is soon to be available for subscription. OTT platforms have become increasingly popular in recent years, with many companies entering the market. However, not all OTT platforms offer regional content, which is something that many viewers in India particularly enjoy. Stage App is aimed at Indian audiences and plans to release content in the top 20 dialects of the country by 2027 in order to reach at least 200 million households.
The company was founded in November 2019 by Vinay Singhal, Shashank Vaishnav, and Parveen Singhal. It has secured funding of Rs 40 crore, backed by investors such as Blume Ventures, Mumbai Angels, NB Ventures, and Dholakia Ventures, among others. The platform provides entertaining and educational content in a variety of languages and dialects.
The company’s CEO, Vinay Singhal, is particularly focused on creating specialized, regionally targeted material that speaks to specific parts of the country. Stage App already has more than 225,000 users and is adding an additional 25,000 subscribers each month for its Haryanvi programming. In June of last year, the company introduced programming in the Rajasthani dialect and currently has 10,000 subscribers.
The company is highly active on social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, with the goal of becoming India’s top OTT entertainment platform. The goal of Stage App is to establish it as a national platform for cultural celebration and connection for all dialect speakers. The company’s ambitious vision of releasing content in the top 20 dialects of the country by 2027 and reaching at least 200 million households is an indication of its potential for growth in the future.
