The Coronavirus pandemic may have crippled the joy of watching a film in cinemas, things are gradually getting back on their feet. This comes with a major hurdle, the boom and subsequent blockbuster success of that OTT. Amid this, we get the release date of some major films that were awaiting releases for long.

The first film that has been in the pipeline is Akshay Kumar and Vaani Kapoor’s Bellbottom. This period drama also stars Huma Qureshi and Lara Dutta. It narrates the tale of one of India’s unsung heroes, obviously played by Kumar. His patriotic narratives began from Airlift and continued till Mission Mangal. This film promises to be a worthy addition to the repertoire.

Originally announced for a release on April 2 this year, it now opens in the cinemas on May 28. Pooja Entertainment tweeted the official announcement, have a look right here:

Barring Laxmii, which streamed on Disney Plus Hotstar, Kumar rests on 12 consecutive successes. Fans were waiting for his cop drama Sooryavanshi but now get Bellbottom in cinemas before. Not much of a difference since this film also presents him in a Superhero avatar.

In 2005, Shaad Ali made Bunty Aur Babli, a fun, frothy con-comedy about two people who lie, cheat, steal for a living that soon transforms into joy. Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan shared a crackling chemistry and displayed an impressive knack for physical comedy and sharp timing. 16 years later, Mukerji returns as the con-woman sans Bachchan. This time, she gets the company of her Hum Tum co-star Saif Ali Khan. They get the company of Siddhart Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh. Here’s when this will come out:

This con-edy should deliver as much boisterousness as the prequel did. The trump card of the earlier film was the unforgettable track- Kajra Re. What surprise awaits us this time? We’ll find out on April 23!

Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s rom-com

Luv Ranjan has found a lot of commercial success with his directorial works about men’s gaze of the monstrous side of the opposite sex. In nearly all his films, we get to see men trapped in complicated relationships with conniving women. He now brings together a fresh pairing of Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. Nothing about this film is known yet.

Taran Adarash tweeted the release date on his Twitter account, have a look right here:

Announced in December 2019, the film was supposed to arrive last year on Holi but will now come in the cinemas on Holi 2022 (March 18). It seems like ages since we saw Ranbir Kapoor on the celluloid. It also promises to give Shraddha a role where she can sink her teeth into. This rom-com should guarantee a colourful weekend at the movies next Holi.
