Cloud bursts near Amarnath cave, many devotees died, Yatra stopped

The cloud burst just 2 km from the Amarnath cave

Every day about 15 thousand devotees are reaching the holy cave to have the darshan of Baba. Amarnath Yatra started a week ago on 30th June and had to stop due to bad weather several times a week.

A cloudburst near the holy Amarnath cave in south Kashmir on Friday evening killed 15 pilgrims. According to eyewitnesses, a terrible flow of water came from the right side of the cave of Amarnath and in the blink of an eye, everything was destroyed. Where there were tents until a while ago, there was langar, after a few seconds there was debris and a river of mud was flowing. Two langar houses were completely washed away in this flood.

Apart from this, 15 to 20 camps of devotees were also engulfed by the strong flow of water. Security forces say that forty to fifty people had come in the grip of this accident. Relief and rescue work is going on at the spot.
