In a recent address at the International Gita Mahotsav, Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared insights into the significance of the Bhagavad Gita in his life, attributing his early exposure to the scripture to his mother. The occasion marked the Gita Jayanti Mahotsav, where Shah commended Prime Minister Modi’s annual initiative for an international celebration of the Gita since its inception in 2016, led to fruition by Chief Minister Manohar Lal in the same year.
Amit Shah emphasized the need for the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita to reach every corner of India and the world. The International Gita Mahotsav, initiated in 2016, has been notably successful in achieving this objective.
While addressing the gathering, Shah delved into political issues, stating that Article 370 should be abolished, and Kashmir should be integrated with India. He stressed the importance of making the country secular and called for the abolishment of laws such as triple talaq to achieve this goal.
Expressing his satisfaction over the completion of the abrogation of Article 370, Shah highlighted the ease with which people can now visit pilgrimage sites like Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Mahakal in Ujjain, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. He credited Prime Minister Modi for these achievements, including the establishment of the Sengoal within Parliament.
Acknowledging the spiritual leaders and gurus present at the event, Shah noted their dedicated commitment to a life devoted to dharma. He shared personal anecdotes, revealing that despite facing various challenges in life, it was his mother who instilled the teachings of the Gita in him, leading to his current position.
Concluding his speech, Amit Shah paid homage to the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and concluded with cheers for Bharat Mata (Mother India). The event served as a platform for advocating unity, spirituality, and social reforms, with the Bhagavad Gita playing a central role in shaping the discourse.
