The Delhi Police arrested the prime suspect behind the “Rashmika Mandanna Deepfake Video”. Eemani Naveen (23) from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday for creating and spreading the misleading deepfake video of Rashmika Mandanna on social media two months ago.
Naveen revealed that the original video featured a different woman in a black outfit entering a lift. Naveen allegedly used AI techniques to morph Rashmika Mandanna’s face onto the original woman’s face, creating a deceptive representation.
Naveen, a B.Tech student from Guntur, completed a digital certification course in Digital Marketing from Google Garage in 2019. Naveen operated three fan pages, with one dedicated to Rashmika Mandanna. Struggling to gain followers, Naveen created the deepfake video, which he uploaded to the fan page on Instagram on October 13, significantly boosting its followers from 90k to over a lakh.
The arrest of Naveen marks a crucial development in the case, offering closure to the affected actress and her fanbase.
