Asees Kaur has very successfully carved a niche for herself as a playback singer in Bollywood with her melodious voice and versatile songs. In an exclusive interview with peddlermedia.in, the young singer opens up about her music idols, dream collaborations, actresses she would love to sing for, and more. Excerpts…
Is there anybody you idolise and look up to in the industry, as a singer?
Growing up, I used to listen to Madam Noor Jahan a lot, and I still idolise her. From today’s time, I am a huge fan of Arijit Singh. He really inspires me.
What would your dream collaboration be like and with whom?
My dream collaboration has happened actually with Mithoon sir and Arijit Singh for ‘Intezaar’. I would also love to collaborate with Taylor Swift; I think it would really be amazing to sing a song with her.
Which is the latest song that you’ve heard and are listening to on a loop?
I listen to my songs when I wake up in the morning. Interestingly, that is the first thing that I do while brushing my teeth. Apart from my songs, I am listening to the song, ‘Aabaad Barbaad’ from the movie ‘Ludo’. Arijit has sung the song and I hear it on loop.
Any actress you would love to lend your voice to?
I would love to sing for Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma, because I really love them, and I haven’t sung for them yet.
Any advice for aspiring singers who want to make it big in the Indian music industry?
To all the aspiring singers, I would love to say that do your riyaz very sincerely. If you are a hundred per cent dedicated to your riyaz, it really becomes easy to go to a studio and nail the song. If you have practiced right, you can get you’re A-game on, and just kill it.
