Thiruvananthapuram – Something shiny just vanished! Around 13 sovereigns of gold (107 grams) have mysteriously gone missing from the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple – and no, this isn’t a plot from a heist movie.
The gold, stored in rods, was part of an ongoing sanctum door plating project. When workers showed up on Saturday to resume their job, one gold rod had simply disappeared!
Despite an all-day search by security and police, the missing gold was nowhere to be found. A formal complaint has been filed with Fort Police, and yes, the CCTV footage is under the scanner.
Fun Fact: This isn’t the temple’s first “now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t” moment. Last October, a vintage brass cauldron (called Thalipathram) also went missing – but it turned out to be an innocent mix-up involving a visitor from Haryana.
This time, though, it’s serious. With daily procedures involving police, temple officials, and gold being locked up under supervision, everyone’s asking – how did this happen?
Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple famous for?
