Chandigarh: Roadways employees, rallying for various demands, are gearing up for a significant protest. Joint front representatives claim that during Wednesday’s strike, almost 3,200 out of 3,500 Roadways buses in the state came to a standstill.

Leaders, including Narendra Dinod, Sumer Sivach, and others, announced that a crucial decision on the protest would be declared during a joint front meeting on January 27. They stated that due to unfulfilled promises and the high-handed behavior of senior officials, employees were forced to take to the streets.

Primary demands include repealing the Hit and Run law, raising supervisor and clerk salaries to ₹35,400, withdrawing the leave deduction letter during earned leave, reinstating the old pension scheme, and focusing on risk allowances.

The joint front urged revisions to the online transfer policy, confirmation of all employees hired between 1992 and 2003 from their appointment date, and dissolution of the Haryana Employment Skill Development Corporation. They called for permanent recruitment on all vacant positions and resolution of wage disparities among all employees.

Leaders hope the government addresses these issues promptly to avoid any escalation. The joint front plans to announce the course of action during their meeting on January 27.
