Sports Authority of India (SAI) has sanctioned a total amount of Rs 6.52 crore for 2189 players of 21 sports of Khelo India for the period April to June this year. Para sports are also included in these sports.
SAI said that under the Annual Khelo India Scholarship Scheme, financial assistance of Rs 6.28 lakh has been allocated for each residential player training centre in recognized academies. This also includes out-of-pocket expenses of Rs 1.20 lakh.
The out-of-pocket expenses (Rs 1.20 lakh annually) are directly transferred to the player’s bank account, while the remaining amount is spent on the player’s training, food, accommodation and education at the Khelo India Academy
where he is training. This includes travel to the player’s hometown, his/her feeding fee at home and the player’s expenses. This has been done as per the Khelo India Talent Development (KITD) scheme.
