Sargun Mehta Post: The television industry can be a demanding and often challenging place to work. With long, hectic schedules, actors frequently face taxing conditions, and recently, more have begun to open up about their experiences on set. Actress Krishna Mukherjee recently highlighted harassment issues on the ‘Shubh Shagun’ set involving producer Kundan Singh. Amidst these revelations, Sargun Mehta, a prominent TV actress, has spoken out, urging actors to confront and address harassment in the industry.
Sargun Mehta, known for her roles in popular Hindi TV shows such as 12/24 Karol Bagh, Phulwa, Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, and Balika Vadhu, believes actors must speak up against mistreatment. Mehta reassures her peers that exposing wrong behaviour won’t lead to being ousted from a show without cause.
Sargun Mehta on Harassment in the TV Industry
In an interview with News18, the Bigg Boss 8 contestant emphasized that workplace harassment is not unique to television. “Work harassment is not only there on television sets. It is there maybe in every field. Even corporate-wise or wherever. I can only suggest that if anything is happening to you on the sets, you should speak up about it,” she said. Mehta encourages actors to be vocal and candid about their experiences, asserting that producers will address the issues promptly. “I don’t think there is anything to hide,” she added.
Mehta strongly believes that genuine conflicts should be communicated directly to the producers. She argues that actors are not replaced on a whim, noting the investments made in terms of money, hopes, and time spent developing characters. “For no reason, you will not be ousted from the sets. Actors are not replaced from sets because a producer wants to. They will never be replaced like that. Nobody wants to replace an actor because we have put in our money, hopes. We have spent so many months working on this character. Why would we want to replace an actor for something like this?” Mehta explained.
