Renowned climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike for 13 days, joined by 1500 individuals in a one-day strike on Monday. Wangchuk demands Ladakh’s inclusion in the Sixth Schedule, granting local administrative powers.

Through videos on social media, Wangchuk clarified that the Sixth Schedule aims to protect environmentally sensitive areas and local cultures. He stressed its importance in safeguarding local communities.
Regarding industry, Wangchuk proposed creating economic zones in less sensitive areas to attract investments without affecting the local population.
