Heights like mountains also fall short in front of the human spirit and passion. An example of this is Kalluram (89), a resident of Atela Kalan in the Charkhi Dadri district of Haryana. He cut stones on a hill about 4000 feet high and made a pond for the animals to drink water.

Kalluram told that when he was 18 years old, Atela used to go to the hill located in Kalan to graze the cattle. One day the cow died of thirst on the mountain. After seeing this, his mind got very tired and the idea of ​​making a pond on top of the mountain came. On that day, I took a vow that by cutting the mountain, I would definitely build a pond here one day.

Kalluram told that the very next day he reached the mountain with a chisel and a hammer weighing ten kilograms. After that, it became a routine. He would reach the mountain in the morning with the animals and get busy with his work. Regardless of the weather and day and night, he kept busy in his work.

But he is sorry that despite the demand of the villagers, the administrative officers or public representatives have not been able to get the way to reach the pond so far. Kalluram has done such work with his 50 years of hard work which is no less than a wonder. Making a long, deep and wide pond by cutting the mountain is not an easy task.
