Tent City Returns to Reti Island Ahead of Dev Deepawali bank of Ganga

Before the festive Dev Deepawali, a Tent City will sprout up on Reti Island near the Ganges. This time, they’re adding more cottages for visitors. Around 240 cottages were there before, and this time they’re making even more. For about seven months, over 35,000 visitors are expected to come and enjoy the place.

As the Ganges water level goes down, they’ll start making cottages from November 15. They’re getting ready to take cottage bookings from November 1. Last time, they had around 240 cottages. This time, they’re preparing to have more. More than 35,000 people might come to Tent City this time.

The last time they removed cottages from Tent City to make space for Assi Ghat from June to the monsoon season. Now, the Ganges water level is stable, so they’re planning to set up Tent City again.

This time, two companies will work on it. Praveg Communications (India) will build 140 cottages on 30 hectares of land, and Lallu Ji and Sons will make 110 cottages. The cottages will have different sizes, and there will be space for around 200 people in each cottage cluster.

They’ll provide all the necessary things in Tent City – like clean water, electricity, and good roads. They’ve done it before, and now, with the water level right, they’re starting work again. They’re having meetings to build 140 cottages for Tent City. They want to start taking bookings from November 1 so that everything is ready for Dev Deepawali.

Varun Pandey, the Manager of Praveg Tent City, said they’re really excited to make Tent City great again. Dr. Sunil Verma, Secretary of the Varanasi Development Authority, said they’re working with different groups to make sure everything is set up well.
