India will celebrate its 75th Independence Day on 15 August 2022. A day when the whole country is colored in one color of freedom. This day often prompts us to look back in the past and understand everything that happened in the past equally. The country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the tricolor on August 15, 1947, above the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi. After this it is a tradition which is followed every year by the Prime Ministers.

19. In the year 1963, the Bhakra Nangal Dam was ready, from where electricity was started for the first time in independent India.
20. The country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru died on 27 May 1964. He was ill for several days.
21. On January 3, 1966 in Uzbekistan, the then Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri signed a peace agreement with Pakistani PM Ayub Khan. He died on 19 January.
22. On 19 January 1966, Indira Gandhi became the first woman PM of the country.
23. In the backward states like Bihar, Orissa, Bengal, the famine in 1966 caused terrible destruction.

41. Rajiv Gandhi came to Delhi from West Bengal as soon as he got the news of the death of his mother Indira Gandhi. During that time he was set to become the PM.
