BJP Appoints Dharmendra Pradhan as Campaign Chief in Haryana Election
Haryana has a total of 90 assembly seats, and it is speculated that the BJP might contest all seats independently, as it did in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, where it contested all ten seats in the state. However, the party suffered losses in five seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
The 2019 Assembly elections witnessed a fierce triangular contest. Out of the total 90 seats, BJP secured victory on 40 seats, while Congress managed to win 31 seats. Additionally, Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) secured 10 seats, and the remaining 9 seats were won by other parties. Following the elections, BJP formed a coalition government with JJP, which lasted for over four years.
However, prior to the Lok Sabha elections, BJP severed ties with JJP and formed a government with the support of independent MLAs. The Lok Sabha elections saw significant political upheaval in Haryana, including the resignation of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and the dissolution of the BJP-JJP alliance.
The political landscape in Haryana is expected to witness further developments as the state gears up for the Assembly elections. With the appointment of Dharmendra Pradhan as the campaign chief, BJP aims to strengthen its position and strategize effectively to secure victory in the upcoming polls.
