Haryana is all set to go from wrestling rings to movie screens! In a bold move to boost regional cinema and create job opportunities, the Haryana government is developing two massive Film Cities—one in Pinjore (Panchkula) and another in Gurugram.

Phase 1: Film City on 100 Acres in Pinjore

The first phase of this cinematic revolution is happening in Pinjore, where 100 acres of land have already been finalized for a modern Film City. The appointment of a consultant is underway, and construction is expected to begin soon. This initiative will provide a major push to the Haryanvi film industry, support local talent, and open up new job avenues.

Phase 2: Gurugram to Become a Global Shooting Hotspot

The second phase involves setting up another Film City in Gurugram. Land selection for this phase is in progress. With plans to include world-class studios, editing suites, and post-production facilities, this Film City aims to attract Bollywood, Hollywood, and global filmmakers.

Weekly Haryanvi Films on Doordarshan

In partnership with Prasar Bharati, the government also plans to air one Haryanvi film every week on Doordarshan, ensuring that regional culture reaches homes across India.

Film Courses in Every University

The state’s Dada Lakhmi Chand University (SUPVA) will take charge of introducing filmmaking courses in all universities across Haryana. Theatre education will also be introduced in schools, in collaboration with the Education Department.

Revival of Single-Screen Cinemas

CM Saini announced the revival of single-screen cinemas in towns and rural areas, ensuring regional films find their audiences. A Film Promotion Board has been created to guide and promote local cinema.

₹12 Crore Subsidy Given to Filmmakers

Under the Haryana Film Policy, the government recently distributed over ₹12 crore in subsidies to six filmmakers. Films like Chhalaang, Tera Kya Hoga Lovely, Fuffad Ji, and Dada Lakhmi Chand were among the beneficiaries. The state is not just making promises—it’s delivering results on the ground.

Rajkummar Rao Applauds Haryana Film Festival

Bollywood actor and Haryana native Rajkummar Rao praised the Haryana Film Festival 2025, calling it a “big opportunity for young talent”. He encouraged aspiring filmmakers to grab this golden chance that wasn’t available in his early days.
