Now the Railways is making efforts to make the journey easy and eco-friendly through new technology. Under this, a decision has been taken to use hydro locomotives on the Kalka-Shimla track. Hydro engine trains will be operated on the 95.4 kilometer narrow gauge line of Kalka-Shimla Railway in Northern Railway.
Ambala Divisional Railway Manager said that there is full hope of announcing the use of these engines in this year’s budget as well. This is the reason that in the year-2023, the officials of Ambala division have started work on this project. It is expected that this project will be implemented by the end of the year.
Engines running on hydro fuel have been specially designed. Along with this, coaches or coaches of vehicles running on hydro fuel will also be specially prepared. The special thing is that a prototype of a hydrogen-based train is also being prepared as a pilot project in the workshop of Northern Railway.
