Mandi, Himachal Pradesh: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who recently ventured into politics as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, filed her nomination papers from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency amidst a spirited gathering of party supporters and leaders.

Ranaut, known for her versatile acting career, expressed pride in representing her hometown Mandi as a BJP candidate. “Having found success in Bollywood, I am hopeful that I will find success in politics as well,” Ranaut shared after submitting her nomination papers.

In an affidavit submitted alongside her nomination, Ranaut disclosed ownership of a notable collection of luxury vehicles, including a BMW 730 LD, a Mercedes-Benz GLE 250 D 4MATIC, a Mercedes-Maybach, and a Vespa Scooter, totaling up to ₹5.48 crore.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur, accompanying Ranaut during the nomination filing, emphasized the widespread support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and expressed confidence in Ranaut’s candidacy, dismissing speculation that she might not stay committed to local service post-election.

Meanwhile, in other political developments within Himachal Pradesh, the nomination process saw significant participation, with Sudhir Sharma, a former Congress MLA, filing his candidacy as a BJP nominee for the Dharamshala assembly constituency. The electoral landscape in the state is heating up, with multiple candidates from various parties vying for key positions in both Lok Sabha and assembly by-polls.

The filing of nominations concluded with 33 candidates submitting their papers for the upcoming by-elections and Lok Sabha polls. The next step involves the scrutiny of these nominations on May 15 by the state election authorities.
