    Biography of Shivkumar Sharma

    One of the most influential and celebrated figures in Hindustani classical music, Shivkumar Sharma is a living legend. A Master of the Santoor, Sharma has inspired and mesmerized audiences across the globe with his virtuosity and artistry.

    Born in Jammu in 1938, Sharma began his musical training at a young age with his father Uma Dutt Sharma, a noted classical vocalist. He gave his first public performance at the age of eleven and went on to study at the prestigious All India Radio music college in Delhi.

    Sharma’s career took off in the 1960s when he began touring internationally. He has since performed at some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall. He has also composed music for films, and his work has been featured in numerous documentaries and films.
