Meta has officially started rolling out its AI chatbot, Meta AI, to users in India across several of its platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, as well as on its dedicated website, Meta.AI.
This move follows the initial launch of Meta AI over two months ago in countries such as Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. The delayed rollout in India was speculated to be due to the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Meta AI Assistant Launches in India on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and More
Meta offers a wide range of functionalities, including real-time search results from Microsoft and Google, basic task handling like writing emails and summarizing texts, and even image and GIF generation within chat windows. These features can be accessed directly from popular apps like WhatsApp and Messenger, making it a convenient tool for users who can now integrate AI assistance seamlessly into their daily communications.
One of the standout features of Meta is its ability to provide insights while scrolling through posts on the Facebook app and during group chats for activities such as trip planning or finding routes. This integration aims to enhance user experience by delivering useful information and assistance in real-time without needing to switch to a different application.
Despite the official announcement of the rollout, some users in India are yet to see Meta AI available on their devices. Visiting the Meta AI website also displays a message stating, “Meta AI is not yet available in your country,” indicating a phased rollout approach. Users can expect the AI assistant to be available across all devices in the coming days as the rollout progresses.
