Now the number of passengers has started increasing at Chandigarh International Airport. Due to the festival season, people are reaching the airport considering air travel more pleasant. Earlier, the number of passengers at the airport was very less, but now more than six thousand people are reaching the airport daily.
Due to the festive season and fewer cases of corona infection, once again the movement of passengers at Chandigarh International Airport has started increasing. In this regard, the Public Relations Officer of Chandigarh International Airport, Prince said that till two to three months ago, where the daily movement of passengers from Chandigarh Airport was between 1200 to 1500, now the number of passengers has started going beyond 6000. Before the lockdown, there was the movement of 15 to 20 thousand people daily from the airport.
The figures of movement of passengers at the airport before the Corona crisis are astonishing. The place of Chandigarh International Airport is leading among the airports where the number of passengers is increasing rapidly. The number of passengers moving through the airport is increasing by more than 1.5 lakh passengers every year.
In the year 2003, where the number of passengers at Chandigarh International Airport was close to three lakhs, in the year 2015-16, the number of passengers was close to 16 lakhs. In the year 2018, this number is close to 20 lakhs. Although the airport remained closed for most of the time due to runway construction in the year 2019, the number of passengers per month was between one and a half to two lakhs on normal days. In the year 2019, 23,50,459 passengers traveled from Chandigarh Airport. At the same time, in the year 2020, there was movement of only four and a half lakh people at the airport.

At present, 41 flights are operating from Chandigarh International Airport. There are direct flights from the airport to cities like Hisar, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Srinagar, Ahmedabad, Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kullu, Pune, Dharamsala, Leh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Kishangarh, Dehradun, Dharamsala and Shimla.
