When a sequel not only matches but surpasses its original, it deserves all the spotlight it can get. Raid 2 does exactly that—delivering a high-voltage cinematic experience with its gripping plot, stellar cast, and flawless execution. With Ajay Devgn back as the razor-sharp IRS officer Amey Patnaik, this sequel brings together power-packed performances, whistle-worthy dialogues, and a story that hits harder than any raid ever has.
Raid 2 Movie Review: Script Analysis
Raid 2 picks up where the first film left off—but with higher stakes and deeper layers. Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Amey Patnaik, the honest-to-the-core income tax officer who has now faced 75 transfers due to his relentless, no-nonsense approach. But this time, things take a dark turn. Amey’s integrity is questioned when he is accused of demanding a ₹2 crore bribe during a raid—something that seems completely out of character.
Adding a strong emotional and narrative edge is Vaani Kapoor as Malini, Amey’s wife, who plays a more active role this time around. Together, they take on Dada Bhai—a mass leader played chillingly by Riteish Deshmukh. Rising from a cobbler to a public figure worshipped like a god, Dada Bhai runs a “foundation” that masks his corrupt empire and black money empire.

As the layers peel back, the film takes us through a maze of deception, politics, and power games—intertwined with emotional depth and subtle humour. Saurabh Shukla returns as Tauji from the original film, still imprisoned, yet adding delightful comic commentary and uncanny observations on Amey’s journey.
Raid 2 Movie Review: Star Performance
Ajay Devgn is in top form—silent, intense, and commanding. His portrayal of Amey Patnaik blends quiet strength with sharp intellect, and his presence alone elevates the tension in every frame. Riteish Deshmukh is the surprise package here. As Dada Bhai, he balances menace and motherly devotion with an unnerving calm, proving yet again that he’s a powerhouse in serious roles.
Vaani Kapoor delivers a measured, mature performance, adding emotional gravity without being reduced to a typical ‘wife’ role. Amit Sial as the “compromising officer” Lallan Sudheer is equal parts funny and frustrating, while Supriya Pathak as Amma gives the mother archetype a refreshing touch of depth and authority.

Special mentions go to Shruti Pandey as Geeta and the supporting cast including Brijendra Kala, Mukesh Tiwari, and Rajat Kapur who all bring authenticity to their roles.
Raid 2 Movie Review: Direction, Music
Director Raj Kumar Gupta takes a giant leap in storytelling with Raid 2. While his previous works like No One Killed Jessica and Raid showcased his ability to balance realism with cinematic drama, Raid 2 shows his mastery in handling big-screen storytelling with mainstream appeal.
The script, co-written by Ritesh Shah, Jaideep Yadav, Karan Vyas, and Akshat Tiwari, is a firecracker. The dialogues are hard-hitting and memorable—especially when Amey says, “Maine kab kaha ke main Paandav hoon? Main to poori Mahabharat hoon!”
Cinematographer Sudhir K. Chaudhary gives the film a gritty, grounded yet stylish visual tone, while Amit Trivedi’s background score perfectly supports the emotional highs and thrilling lows.

While the music doesn’t steal the show, it complements the narrative. “Nasha” by Sachin-Jigar is a standout, while “Money, Money” and the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan recreation do their job. The background score, however, is powerful and impactful throughout the film.
Raid 2 Movie Review: The Last Word
Raid 2 isn’t just a sequel—it’s a statement. It doesn’t ride on the success of the first film but builds a stronger, more complex narrative around the same core values. It’s intense, thrilling, emotional, and even funny in unexpected places. This is Bollywood commercial cinema done right—rooted in reality, yet full of drama.
