Haryana’s Home Minister, Anil Vij, has ordered the suspension of 372 Investigating Officers who have caused significant delays in cases across the state. This move is aimed at ensuring prompt justice for the people.
Vij stressed the need for swift case resolution and instructed the Director General of Police (DGP) to assign these pending cases to Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) for resolution within a month. Failure to meet this deadline will lead to action against the DSPs. The suspended officers range from Assistant Sub Inspectors to Inspectors.
This suspension comes in response to allegations of intentional delays, corruption, and bias causing complaints to languish for more than a year.
Vij expressed his frustration in a letter to DGP S S Kapur, citing the delay in resolving FIRs across the state, totaling a substantial 3,229 cases.
Vij emphasized the need to hold officers accountable for their actions and insisted on immediate suspension. He urged the DSPs to prioritize the resolution of these cases within a month, warning of consequences for those failing to meet the deadline.
A breakdown of the suspended officers reveals that 66 are from Sirsa, followed by 60 in Gurgaon, 57 in Yamunanagar, and 32 in Faridabad. Various other districts in Haryana also have officers facing suspension.
This decisive action underscores the commitment to delivering justice swiftly and upholding public trust in law enforcement agencies, sending a strong message about accountability and transparency in the criminal justice system.
