Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has many times been criticised for being a Canadian citizen which has been a topic of discussion since 2017 but now today on the occasion of Independence Day, Akshay Kumar finally shares the news of getting an Indian citizenship with his fans. The actor confirmed it by sharing the proof containing the picture of the legal government documents across his social media.

Yes, you heard that right, after announcing about his decision of renouncing his Canadian passport earlier this year, Akshay Kumar finally declares himself as Indian Citizen today on the auspicious occasion of 76th Independence Day while proving true love for his country as he writes, “Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind!” by sharing the legal document as proof. Akshay’s real name was Rajiv Bhatia but the name Akshay Kumar rose to fame with stardom in the industry and now the document mentioned his name as ‘Akshay Hariom Bhatia’.

Have A Look At His Post:

Speaking about his Canadian citizenship, Akshay Kumar said in an Aaj Tak interview in February this year that, “India is everything to me. Whatever I have earned, whatever I have gained is from here. And I’m fortunate that I get a chance to give back. You feel bad when people say things without knowing anything.”

He further continued, “I thought that ‘bhai, my films are not working and one has to work’. I went there for work. My friend was in Canada and he said, ‘come here’. I applied and I got in. I had just two films left for release and it is just luck that they both became superhit. My friend said, ‘go back, start working again’. I got some more films and I kept getting more work. I forgot that I had the passport. I never thought that I should get this passport changed but now yes, I have applied to get my passport changed and once I get the renounced status from Canada.

On the workfront, Akshay Kumar is recently seen in his film OMG 2 which was released on 11 August 2023 and is successfully running in theatres while getting positive reviews from the critics and the public. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in lead roles.
