Zoe Saldana, known for her Gamora role in the MCU, recently shared a fun behind-the-scenes moment from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ She revealed an unexpected urge involving her co-star, Dave Bautista, who plays Drax.
In a recent interview, Saldana spoke about her initial impressions of Bautista, who transitioned from wrestling to acting and quickly became a fan-favorite as Drax. She admitted to having preconceived notions about the imposing wrestler.
“You’d think because he’s so big and comes from wrestling, his acting is like a big, stomping giant, but he’s subtle and natural,” Zoe Saldana said. She described how Bautista’s ability to grasp a scene with just one explanation from director James Gunn left a lasting impression on her.
Saldana humorously confessed to an “inappropriate urge” she had while working with Bautista. She said, “But Dave was so quiet, I’m telling you, like, if I was a few years younger, and it wouldn’t have been inappropriate, he just inspires you to climb on top of him while he’s sitting there. You just want to have a conversation on his shoulder.”
Despite her playful inclinations, Saldana opted for professionalism on set and resisted the urge, saying it would have been inappropriate. Instead, she patiently waited for Bautista to finish his healthy meals before approaching him.
Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista shared a close relationship, like the rest of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ cast, throughout their time on the Marvel franchise. With ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ they bid farewell to their iconic roles as Gamora and Drax, leaving fans wondering if they might make a surprise return to the MCU.
As James Gunn, the director of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ series, ventured into the DC Universe, there is speculation that Saldana and Bautista could potentially appear in DC Films in different roles, given their close connection to Gunn. Though their future in the MCU is uncertain, fans remain hopeful for a possible big-screen reunion.
